Every wedding tells a unique and special story; Alessandra and Michele’s is no exception. When Alessandra contacted me to create a wedding cake topper with the groom in military uniform for their big day, I knew I would need to capture their physical appearance and the essence of their love.
A Personalised Cake Topper with Groom in Italian Army Dress Uniform
“Good evening. My name is Alessandra, and my partner and I will be getting married on September 9th, 2023,” she wrote in her email. My sister recommended your website to me after she contacted you four years ago to have a personalised cake topper made by you. I’m interested in ordering one for my wedding, too. Since my partner is a soldier in the Italian Army, I was wondering if it would be possible for you to portray him in his gala dress uniform.”
Over the years, I’ve created numerous cake toppers with grooms in various uniforms: Carabinieri, Police, Fire Brigade, Alpine Troops, Navy, and many others. Therefore, I had numerous examples of cake toppers to show Alessandra, including samples of cake toppers I had created with the groom wearing the same Italian Army uniform as Michele.
The Details That Create Emotion
Alessandra wanted a cake topper that would portray them dancing a romantic slow dance, embracing. She wanted this small masterpiece in Fimo Clay to become a tangible memory of their special day – something to cherish and admire in the years to come.
To make the wedding cake topper truly personalised, Alessandra sent me detailed photographs of her wedding dress, which had characteristic draped side panels and a lace bodice with wide straps that slightly covered the shoulders. Details such as her half-up hairstyle, delicate crown, and a round bouquet of white roses surrounded by small green leaves were essential.
The Army Uniform: A Symbol of Pride
The most touching part of the request was when Alessandra sent me photos of the medals Michele had proudly earned: a loving gesture towards her future husband. Alessandra wanted to ensure that every detail of Michele’s army gala dress uniform was perfectly represented in their personalised cake topper. I carefully modelled each medal, positioning them precisely on the black uniform jacket.
Capturing Likenesses with the Magic of Fimo Clay
Creating realistic likenesses is one of the most rewarding parts of my work with personalised cake toppers. Carefully following the photos sent by Alessandra, I modelled their faces, capturing both of their loving expressions.
With each small detail added, like Alessandra’s smiling eyes and Michele’s salt and pepper goatee, the cake topper became increasingly similar to the real couple. I paid particular attention to the romantic pose: the groom in his elegant black army uniform with hat, decorations, and medals, Alessandra in her splendid white dress, both locked in a tender embrace as if they had been photographed during their first dance as husband and wife.
The Finishing Touches of this Wedding Cake Topper with Groom in Uniform
To complete this personalised topper, I added the essential wedding rings on the left ring finger of both bride and groom. For good luck, I decorated the green base with little white flowers and a glossy ladybird. As a finishing touch, I carefully hand-wrote their names, Alessandra and Michele, and their wedding date, September 9th, 2023, with white ink on the base.
The final result was a cake topper that physically represented Alessandra and Michele and told the story of their love: Alessandra in her elegant white wedding dress and Michele proudly wearing his Italian Army gala dress uniform, united in the eternal memory of their special day.
